You Are Loved

What Is God’s Love Like?

Why does God love us as imperfect as we are? Because He wants to, it pleases Him. It’s in His very nature to love us, no matter how sinful our actions may be.

God conquers evil with good (see Romans 12:21). He does that by pouring out His limitless grace upon us so that when we sin, His grace becomes greater than our sin. And just as it is impossible for God not to love, so it is impossible for us to do anything to keep Him from loving us.

God loves because that is His nature. He is love (see 1 John 4:8). He may not always love everything we do, but He does love us. God’s love is the power that forgives our sins, heals our emotional wounds and mends our broken hearts (see Psalm 147:3). God’s love is unconditional; it is based on Him, not us! Once you realize that God loves you regardless of what you have or haven’t done, you can experience incredible breakthrough. You can quit trying to earn His love and simply receive it and enjoy it.

Love

“Christ did not die for us that God might love us, He died because God already loved us.” A W Tozer

As we approach Easter and as we reflect on the Cross and our Lord’s suffering and death for us – remember this – the Cross is the ultimate demonstration of God’s love for us.

Jesus died for us – not because we are worthy of it, not because we are good Christians. He died for us out of love.

“Love is not the result of redemption, it’s the cause of it.” AW Tozer

Sparkle in your Father’s Eyes

Have you ever had the lyrics of a song get caught in your mind and you find yourself singing them over and over and hard to get rid of?

Recently I’ve been captivated by two lines from “Jamie’s Song” by Kristene Mueller.

“She’s a sparkle in her Father’s eye,
Kind of like the moon tonight.”

You are the sparkle in God’s eyes. He created you so that He could love you! He created you for His delight!

“You created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created.” (Revelatin 4:11)

Think about that. The Creator of the Universe, the one who named every star and created the galaxies by His Word wants you as part of His family. He desires to be in relationship with you, to love you. You are important to Him.

You’re the sparkle in His eyes!

Once Lost – Now Restored

Further to my posting of lost things being restored, we had an awesome testimony at Church yesterday. A dear elderly lady lost her engagement ring the week prior. She rang the office during the week and came to look for it – but no sign. The Church carpark is used by factory workers during the week, we’d had a youth meeting, cleaners, contractors all through the church as well.

On the Sunday morning it was shared that it was lost – we all prayed together in agreement that it would be found. The lady (in her eighties) also had a dream that it was restored and was remaining hopeful.

At the end of the service, one lady had a look for it – couldn’t find it, then stood at the entry to the Church and prayed! She looked up and across the carpark and saw it!

We were able to return a much loved special ring to a dear follower of Christ. God is good!!

And you know what – it was Valentines Day when it was found!!! A love gift for a lady from Her Heavenly Father – how awesome is that!

This year God wants to restore lost promises – ones forgotten, ones given up on. He wants to restore them to you!

Blessings 🙂

The Way of Love

We love because God loved us first

Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not – CS Lewis

We used to sing at Sunday school – Hey kids do you love Jesus – and we’d reply yes we love Jesus – why – “because he first loved me”

To be secure in who we are we need to lay hold of and keep hold of the revelation of God’s love for you. For that will be what will sustain you through life – through the trials, through the trenches.

It says in 1 John 4:19 that “we love him because He first loved us”. In Revelation 2 we read that you have forgotten your first love. It is about returning to the revelation that he first loved us. It is this revelation that strengthens our love for Him.

Here’s another way to look at it. In John 18 we read of the disciple whom Jesus loved – this bemused me at first – was he Jesus favourite?? It occurred to me that the author of this Gospel John is the one who wrote it. Just a second – this is in the gospel according to…John…not in any of the other gospels. John had the revelation that it is about Jesus loving us – not us loving him. It is Christ’s love alone that sustains us – our souls can’t. Peter said in the same chapter “I will lay down my life for you” yet at the time of Jesus crucifixion Peter had already denied him. And it was John who was near the foot of the cross who Jesus then entrusted with his mother. Jesus loved all the 12 – but John knew it and lived it – he leaned on Jesus – showed his dependency on him.

Jesus says in John 15 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love…” He modelled this for us – He was secure in His Father’s love for Him and displayed it to his disciples – He tells them to remain / live / rest in this love.

It is in Jesus love we need to abide – then we will not be tricked by the enemy. It is about God’s love for us not what we have done or who we are.  It is the only sustainable way to live – the way of love –knowing that he loved us first. It remains then all about him and not about us. I should declare He loves me!!!
