Busy Times May 21, 2010
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged – Life has been extraordinarily busy!! I hope to be back into again soon. I started working part time at the beginning of the year to launch a new computer system for a company. We went live 3 weeks ago and since then I’ve been clocking up between 40-60hrs per week…lots of late nights. And in between just been focusing on keeping the house running etc!
The job has been a fabulous opportunity and a real answer to prayer for my hubby and I. But I’m looking forward to it settling down as everyone adapts to the new system and the teething problems get sorted.
In short – I’ve popped in for a quick word, but be back into blogging more again in the not to distant future!!
Hey God I want my watch back! May 21, 2010
Recently I lost my watch – the one my husband gave to me on our wedding day – it was engraved and very special. I looked everywhere and rang all the malls -no sign. I had got into the bad habit of taking it off and putting it into my pocket when I was out…
I remembered what Bobby Conner once preached – asking out loud to God for what was lost to be restored. I prayed everyday for ages – shouting it out in the car (my 3yr old got quite good at asking for it back)
I gave up…it was gone for a couple of months. Then about a week ago my son tipped over his tin of pens and when I went to pick them all up – there was my watch!!!
Thanks God! For restoring what was precious to me!
What is important to you is important to God!
Have a great week all!
Love April 2, 2010
“Christ did not die for us that God might love us, He died because God already loved us.” A W Tozer
As we approach Easter and as we reflect on the Cross and our Lord’s suffering and death for us – remember this – the Cross is the ultimate demonstration of God’s love for us.
Jesus died for us – not because we are worthy of it, not because we are good Christians. He died for us out of love.
“Love is not the result of redemption, it’s the cause of it.” AW Tozer
Are you Amazed? April 2, 2010
Let’s not cease to be AMAZED and in AWE of this wonderful sacrifice of a God who so passionately loves you that He would die for you. That this has been part of His plan since before time – to make a way home for us.
The Way of the Cross April 2, 2010
“The path began, not in the court of Pilate, but in the halls of Heaven. The Father began His journey when he left his home in search of us. Armed with nothing more than a passion to win your heart, he came looking.” (Max Lucado)
Amazing Love April 2, 2010
The Christian hymn-writers have caught their sense of wonder of our Lord’s sacrifice!
”Amazing grace . . .Amazing love, how can it be that Thou my God should die for me? . . . Love so amazing so divine demands my soul my life my all . . . . . And when I think, that God His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in.”
“ O who am I,
That for my sake
My Lord should take
Frail flesh, and die?”
Love Story April 2, 2010
Do you have a favourite Easter egg? Perhaps it is the traditional hollow chocolate egg or a marshmallow one or maybe you prefer the caramel centred ones. One thing is for sure, at this time of year you’re spoilt for choice. But while the Chocolateries may think Easter is merely an opportunity to sell large quantities of chocolate shaped into eggs or rabbits and decorated with brightly coloured foil, it is more than that – much more.
Easter is a time to remember, to celebrate and to be part of the greatest love story of all time.
It begins with Good Friday as we remember the path that Jesus took to His death. From the judgment by Pilate, the floggings, the arduous walk to Calvary, the nailing to the tree, the mocking and insults hurled at Him and ultimately to His death on the Cross.
Yet this terrible day is the greatest day – because it is the day that we were reconciled back to God. What was supposed to be defeat was victory. It is the day when sin lost its power to keep us from the Father who loves us. Good Friday recalls the day that Jesus took your sin and He took my sin and He died on the cross in punishment for it so that we could all live in fellowship and intimacy with God our Father.
“God put on Him the wrong who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21 Message)
Jesus died when we were still all sinners. He didn’t wait for us to attain perfection, to be good enough to be granted forgiveness or to be worthy of His sacrifice – because we never will be. The old Hymn asks “O who am I, that for my sake, My Lord should take frail flesh, and die?” The answer is He died because He loves us. Easter is part of God’s eternal plan to bring us home and to give us life.
The wonderful thing about Easter is that it doesn’t end with the death of Jesus. On the third day our Lord ROSE again! By this He proved that He is truly God! By rising from the dead He conquered sin and death forever – for eternity – for you! That is what we celebrate!
He is risen! He is alive!
Happy Easter!
Manners March 15, 2010
Was catching the bus home from work the other day. It was a crowded bus and all the seats filled up fast. Two older gentlemen boarded the bus and a teenage guy very quickly got up and offered them his seat. A little later two elderly ladies got on and another teenage boy extended the same grace to them. It was lovely to see – in 2010 manners still exist. We see it less and less but gosh it is lovely to witness the interactions between the generations – the grace of the teenage boys and the thankfulness and appreciation of the older generation….
